One answer is, thanks for trying to help Noel, Adobe confirms that on windows 7 if you drop the .ttf here, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts, it should show up in the font drop down in photoshop.

It isn’t legally permitted to access them outside of CC applications. Hi Mike, you would be right but I prefer to keep my fonts backed up for reference. I also found the answer to my question so all is ok.
