In December 2020, Microsoft announced Lambda Functions as a new Excel feature. Lambda functions are an exciting way to define custom functions (a. k. a. user-defined functions) by only relying on Excel formulas, without having to use VBA or writing an add-in.
Another common question is “When will excel lambda be available?”.
In December 2020, we announced LAMBDA, which allows users to define new functions written in Excel’s own formula language, directly addressing our second challenge. These newly defined functions can call other LAMBDA-defined functions, to arbitrary depth, even recursively. With LAMBDA, Excel has become Turing-complete.
Availability Lambda function is available to users running Insider builds on Windows and Mac.
