Does skype save messages?
Starting April 2017, all your Skype messages are stored in the cloud. In other words, Skype users can have their messages stored indefinitely in the cloud. There’s no need to regularly export your conversations since you can retrieve them from the cloud at any given moment.
Of course, Skype will keep a local history of conversations by device. It is not known whether setting the device’s chat history storage option to “never” will prevent messages being stored in the cloud altogether (after delivery of course).
*Messages, videos, video messages, and pictures are available until they are deleted or dated back to April 2017 and chat titles until deleted or users leave conversations. Join the conversation with other customers. Get answers to Skype questions.
Then, does Skype store chat history on my computer?
No they don’t. Skype archives your chats for you and stores them locally on your computer, if you have enabled this option. Chat histories are not stored anywhere on the Skype network. In other words, no one else will ever be able to see any of your chat histories except you and the person you are chatting with.
Unfortunately, in this new version of Skype, it is not possible to export a conversation. In these cases, we always recommend that you copy and paste the chat in a file or in the notebook. As a suggestion, I recommend leaving your comment requesting this functionality or leaving your criteria.
What happens to my chat history when I delete a contact?
Keep in mind that any items that have been deleted by you and your contact will no longer be available in your chat history or to export. *Messages, videos, video messages, and pictures are available until they are deleted or dated back to April 2017 and chat titles until deleted or users leave conversations.
