If you do see this, you used to sync photos and videos from Google Drive to Google Photos. Starting July 10, 2019, Drive and Photos will no longer sync with each other. After these changes go into effect, any changes you make in Drive will only apply to Drive. Any changes you make in Photos will only apply to Photos.

Google offers two different apps you can use to upload and share photos: Google Drive and Google Photos. That seems like one too many—at least, it did to me. But after looking into it, it turns out these services are pretty different. Google Drive is a file storage service.
Photos look like any other file in your Google Drive: you can organize them in folders and share those folders, as usual. Open any photo in Google Drive, and you’ll see a few options—but not many. You can open images in third-party apps and edit them there, but there’s no built-in way to edit images.

One of the next things we wanted the answer to was, does Backup&Sync take up duplicate storage on Google Photos?
This is what I discovered. if you use Backup & Sync to upload photos and videos to Drive and Photos, it will upload a copy to each service, but it will not take up duplicate storage. If you remove a photo or video from your computer it won’t be removed from Google Photos.
Should I back up my photos to Google Drive or photos?
Unless you need a second copy in Drive, we recommend you back up photos and videos to Google Photos. If you already have Backup and Sync for Drive Backup and Sync is now Google Drive for desktop. If you already have Backup and Sync installed, you’ll be migrated to Google Drive for desktop.

” Backing up photos ” or “Backup is complete” – If you were able to see this messages, it means that your photos should be saved in Google Photos. Here, you have to check your Google Photos to see the problem.

Google Photos backup will continue to work as before. Not sure what settings you have ? On your computer, go to photos., and google., and com/settings. Check if you see the “Google Drive” section. If you don’t see this, you didn’t sync photos and videos from Google Drive to Google Photos.
How do I view a backup of my Google Photos?

Is it possible to back up Google Photos to OneDrive?
In the past when google photos and google drive were “the same” I used Microsoft Flow tool and actually backed my photos to Onedrive and then with Flow synced it to Google Drive -> Photos. That however is not possible anymore and Microsoft Flow doesnt support Google Photos, only Drive.
