Purchased points don’t expire. Any points you get through promotions can have expiration dates. Typically, points expire within thirty days of the date you get them.

The new Beta program has converted all Microsoft Points into Dollars. Apparently a new update is that the “promotional credits” have a 1 year expiration date as well. You can check the expiration date by signing into your account HERE.

Unredeemed points expire if you do not earn or redeem any points for 18 months. Used to be 90 days. Under the MICROSOFT REWARDS section M then at end of #2. I stockpiled for a long time but kept reading about accounts getting banned for seemingly no/stupid reasons and losing the points so I turn them into Amazon cards now regularly.

For Bing Rewards I would redeem my points toward a $5 Xbox Gift Card as soon as I had enough. I’d do this for a year and have enough saved on my Xbox account for a full game and even the DLC. Points expire if you don’t earn points or redeem anything within 90 days.

Now it seems that the Xbox gift card expires after 90 days. I’m looking for an alternative method now. So one idea is to not redeem my points until I have enough to pay off the entire game in full.
