Google Photos has had automatic face tagging or the ability to locate and recognize faces in a photo and add a tag to that face naming the individual. Until recently, though, Google Photos would not allow you to tag a face that was not recognized or mislabeled.

What is face recognition in Google Photos?

Face Recognition is one of the coolest features of Google Photos. It allows the software to pick up on faces in your images, tag people, and give you the option to search for photos by the person’s name.

It can take up to 24 hours for Google’s automatic facial recognition to begin isolating, linking, and grouping individual’s faces in your photos.
