Google Voice is a cloud telephone service that works with smartphones and web browsers. The phone service comes with a free number for calls, voicemail, and text messaging. The platform even supports call forwarding to existing phone numbers, including landlines, business phones, and mobile phones.

It’s an inconvenient kluge, but it works. First, log into Google Voice and configure it to forward text messages to your cell phone. When someone sends a text message to your Google Voice number, you’ll receive the text on your phone–but not from the recipient’s phone number.

Some articles claimed This new dedicated number can then be linked to your cell phone, house phone, work phone or any additional lines. Whenever someone calls your Google Voice number, it will ring every device linked to your account. You can of course also make outgoing calls from all of these devices as well, even including your computer.
That’s going to change very soon, as the service will no longer let you forward your messages to your phone numbers. So far, Google Voice allowed you to forward your received messages to any of your linked numbers. You could add a phone number to your Google Voice account, and receive all your messages on that number.
What is the best way to use Google Voice?
Arguably the best way to use Google Voice is to create separation between your personal and business phone lines. Rather than using your cell phone number or home number when you’re out of the office, Google Voice gives you a free number that can be accessed from any device.
Why can’t I send more than one message on Google Voice?
If you send many text messages in a short period, or recipients mark your messages as spam, Voice may temporarily restrict you from sending more messages. Due to carrier limitations and to protect against spam, Google Voice messaging is intended only for 1:1, personal conversations.
