This of course begs the query “Why does the InDesign logo look so jagged and low resolution?”
As you can see, In. Design’s preview of the logo looks very jagged and low resolution. Why does the In. Design logo look so jagged?, in Design sometimes uses a low-resolution thumbnail, also known as a proxy, to display the image in the layout.
There are three primary reasons why: You placed a low-resolution file into your layout. You placed a file with appropriate resolution into your layout, and then enlarged it, effectively lowering the resolution. You did everything right and it still looks pixelated.
The pixelated image was just a matter of adjusting the Display Performance to High Quality Display. I was like ‘here I am placing this SUPER high resolution image, and it still shows pixelated ….
When I was researching we ran into the query “Why are my links showing as pixelated?”.
One frequent answer is, or you’ve moved your original images, so the links are broken and it shows a pixelated version, relinking will correct it, if that is indeed the issue.
How to display high-resolution images in InDesign?
By default, In. Design is set to display images using the High Quality view, with high-resolution images for Raster and Vector. This means that you will see high-resolution images by default. But you can change this behavior.

If you experience this problem in In. Design go to the View Menu> Display Performance and select Typical Display or High Quality Display. This should resolve the issue. Select the photo in ID, then open the Info panel or the Links panel and check the value for “effective ppi.”.
Why does InDesign print a low-res placeholder when linking files?
