Why excel protected view?

Protected View is a read-only view where most editing functions are disabled until the user enables editing in the file. Files that are downloaded from the Internet are usually opened in Protected View, because these files can contain malware or viruses.

If you cannot open an Excel file in Protected View, there’s reasonable evidence to indicate the file is coming from an unsafe location. Or that it could be malware-ridden. In order to protect your computer, Excel decided not to open that file.

Check if you’re able to open the excel file. If the above method doesn’t work, open the excel file > go to File > Click Options > Select “Trust” > Click the “Trust Center Settings” button > Select “Protected View” on the left of the window. > De-select all the selected “Enable Protected View” checkboxes. > Press OK to exit.

What is a protect sheet in Excel?
