Change Google Earth to “Map” view. Click the “View” drop-down menu, then click “Map” to view streets instead of terrain. Click “Hybrid” to view streets and terrains overlaid. Use Google Maps, a Web-based tool available through the Google search engine, to navigate if you aren’t able to download Google Earth onto your computer.

However, just like Google Maps, you can cache a small portion of it for offline viewing. Google Earth works best with a live internet connection. You can, however, cache (save) small amounts of data that you can access when you’re offline. To do so, log on to the internet and visit the imagery you’d like to view while you’re offline.
Yet another question we ran across in our research was “Can you use google earth offline?”.
As of current writing, Google Earth doesn’t support full offline mode, in which you can specify to download certain location’s satellite imagery in detail. However, just like Google Maps, you can cache a small portion of it for offline viewing. Quoting Google Earth product support, Google Earth works best with a live internet connection.
And if you’d like to use Google Earth on your laptop, in a location that has no Internet connection, using cached data is your only option; Google Earth can access and use cached data when no Internet connection is present or available.
You now have a set of Google Earth data for that area saved in the disk cache. If you take your computer offline and start up Google Earth, it will tell you that it can’t log on to the server and download data, but it can still read in whatever data it has in the cache.
