Interestingly enough, now when you check Bing’s settings in Firefox, if Safe . Search is off, the option to open results in new tabs is not selectable and there’s a note that reads, “Unavailable when Safe. Search is turned off”. (See screenshot.) Edge does not (yet) make this differentiation.

It worked for me and so I thought it might be useful for someone else. Search for “Edge opens new tab on every link” on Microsoft edge browser. In the results page, right below the options of Images, Videos, Maps, News, Shopping etc, there is a toggle saying “open links in new tab”.
