Microsoft is excited to host a series of free, live, online training classes designed to get you up and running with Teams. Whether you’re a business decision maker, admin, IT pro, or end user, you’ll find a class that’s right for you.
To help us address this hurdle we’ve started building guides for trainers that speak directly to the challenges of using these tools and maintaining what we know to be best practices for adult learning. The latest guide is the Trainer’s Guide to Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams provides a couple of unique challenges.
After delivering several online trainings on Microsoft Teams with impeccable success, we thought it was time to share our winning recipe. For those of you who have cold feet about transitioning into a virtual learning format, this one’s for you. Email is imperative when you’re running virtual training classes.
The Trainer’s Guide to Teams pairs well with a presentation designed for the features available in Microsoft Teams. Try a Soapbox demo or a free trial to see how Soapbox can make the transition to virtual training frighteningly easy!

While I was writing we ran into the inquiry “Can you use polls in Microsoft Teams meetings?”.
One thought is that Microsoft are also rolling out Polls in Teams Meetings for customers in GCC. Soon, you can add the Forms app to launch polls in your scheduled Teams meetings.
As well as creating polls during a meeting, you can also create polls prior to a meeting taking place. : In Teams > Open the Calendar Double-click on the meeting you want to add polls to Press the Add a tab + icon > Add the Forms app A pop up box will appear asking you to add Forms > Press Add.
Why can’t people outside of my team create or edit polls?
If your meeting has been forwarded to someone outside of your team or organization, they won’t be able to create or edit polls nor see the poll notification that appears in the middle of their meeting screen. They can, however, access the poll in Chat during the meeting. Only meeting owners and presenters can create, manage, and launch polls.
One of the next things we asked ourselves was how can I quickly poll my students in meetings?
Poll your students in a channel discussion, or during one of your meetings to receive responses quickly on any subject. Easily poll in Microsoft Teams because Microsoft Forms is fully integrated into Teams.
How to put a call on hold in Microsoft Teams?
If we select “Call” feature in Teams, we can find the “Hold” option when clicking “More actions…”. I believe I found the support article you said: Put a call on hold in Teams, and as the article said. And if we host a teams meeting, there is no “Hold” option.
Once the call is on hold, this will notify all parties of the call’s hold status. To start the call again, click the Resume button in the toolbar. This will continue the call as before.
How do I place a call or meeting on hold?
To place a call or meeting on hold, tap More options in your call window and select the hold option. To continue the call, tap Resume.
If you’re in a pinch and need to put yourself on hold without leaving a meeting, you can put your current meeting on hold by joining a “fake” second meeting. During your meeting, go to your Calendar within the main Teams window. Click the the “Meet Now” button to start a second meeting with yourself.
