Your Webex Meetings desktop app uses your computer’s microphone to detect nearby video devices. You can easily turn off this automatic detection setting, which will prevent your microphone from being always on for the desktop app.

It’s possible that you have the wrong microphone selected in your Webex settings. Maybe you used another microphone last time, and it’s still selected, or worse, it is your default microphone at the moment. You need to verify that that’s not the case.

In the Webex Meetings client the audio input control has evolved in such a way that the settings are adjusted automatically. When using Computer Audio without a headset please check your audio settings to ensure background noise does not come through your line. Muting all other sounds is the preferred setting.
