Is YouTube audio in Dolby Atmos 2?
Youtube audio is in 2.0, not 2.1. You have only Left-Right channels. In order to be 2.1, you would have 3 audio channels, Left-Right-Sub, which is not the case. However, Dolby Atmos also has a technology of encoding multichannel audio into stereo (2.0) sources (and vice-versa, aka upmix/downmix).
For instance, Plex running on an Nvidia Shield TV can pass through Atmos over Dolby True. HD, and over Dolby Digital Plus, but Plex on an Apple TV 4K will only handle Atmos over Dolby Digital Plus, and Plex on a 4th-gen Apple TV can’t pass through Dolby Atmos at all.
I have an Amazon Fire TV Box and Youtube has Atmos demos but they all come through from the Fire TV as Stereo (Netflix and Amazon films come through as Dolby+). I tried downloading a few files onto a USB stick but the AV Receiver couldn’t play them properly. Any suggestions welcome.
