Google Maps has more uses other than just providing you with general directions. You can measure distances and areas on the map with it. You can only do this on its website though, as the app doesn’t support it yet. Open any web browser and go to the Google Maps website. Identify a location.
How to measure distance on Google Maps?
You can click on any marked location or anywhere else on the map. Even if you click on any unmarked location, Google will load its coordinates for you. While we were writing we ran into the inquiry “How accurate is Google Earth?”.
These academic researchers say: A horizontal position accuracy of 2.64 m RMSE r was determined for the Google Earth terrain model with mean offset distance being 6.95 m. A vertical position accuracy of 1.63 m RMSE z with mean offset distance of 2.66 m was also calculated for the terrain model.
Is there a way to make horizontal measurements on Google Street View?
